Previous Work: Dark Eldar Raiders "Harlequin-esque"

Here are a few photos of some previous freehand work that I have done, some of the pictures are work in progress.

I decided to go for a 'harlequin theme' for my Dark Eldar army and so painted some 'joker' faces on the sides after I'd airbrushed the raiders in my army colours. These were quite rushed and the photos aren't great (just taken with an iphone), the last photo is my raider in action at the doubles tournament at warhammer world, where I got a lot of good feedback.

I am working on my army again and hope to replace these raiders with 'new improved ones'!!

Previous Work: NMM Sanguinor

Here is my first attempt at non-metallic metallic done quite a while ago, This is Sanguinor (work in progress), apologies again for poor picture quality.

I used the guide in an old copy of White Dwarf, but modified some of the colours slightly. I have since completed the model, but I need more practice, not bad for a first attempt I suppose!

Previous work: Planning the freehand

I always find source images to get inspiration from, and sketch out what I intend to freehand. Heres one of the small rough sketches for the 'joker' raider:
Luckily the airbrush base gives a very flat surface to work on, and I paint on the design using very thin paint, building up layers of colour, using a fine kolinsky sable brush. Planning out on paper allows me to customise my works a lot more and I try to keep common colour themes throughout my entire army. Having studied art, I'm lucky in knowing what colours seem to work together and have a good eye for detail.

Previous work: Blood Angels Tank

Again, this is something I did a while ago, and was the first attempt at freehand:

This was a photo of work in progress, taken on my iphone, so not great quality. The tank was airbrushed red and then I simply brushed the design, which I had planned out on paper beforehand, on the top.
